April 18 is the International Day for Monuments and Sites. It is a good opportunity to learn about World Heritage Sites in different countries. The students have had introductory lessons to the topic of UNESCO and the World Heritage List. They've had a brief presentation of different World Heritage Sites. We discussed what they are and why they are important.
Currently, the children are working on developing their knowledge of the subject on their own. They had previously had lessons tackling the subject of ways of finding information, reliable sources, as well as proper and wise use of dictionaries and the available internet tools, so they are ready to try doing something on their own. They are also allowed to choose the form of presentation: it can be hand-made (e.g. posters) or in electronic form (e.g. PowerPoint). All the work is supposed to end up with International Day for Museums and Sites celebrations at our schools: we will make exhibitions of the children's works, so that other pupils can learn something too.
Since it is an international holiday, an exhibition made up of works done by the students from one school and concerning one country only would result in presenting the country's heritage instead of world heritage and is out of question. Therefore we will exchange our projects and presentations so that we can show the heritage of all three countries: Poland, Italy and Slovakia. To make our World Heritage Site Exhibition more complete, we've also invited some schools from Romania and Turkey to join us in our celebrations.

New presentations, which you can download and see, will be added systematically.
